Raising Hope “Inside Probe” Review

I welcome you to tonight’s installment of Raising Hope, “Inside Probe”, with some good news and bad news. The good news, Raising Hope has been renewed for a third season! I’m so glad that FOX has enough confidence in the show to give it a third season, and really feel that the show deserves it after a great second season. The bad news, though, is that tonight’s episode is the second to last one of the season! I guess it’s a good thing that they’re going out on a high note, with this installment being one of the funniest of the season!

After Community tried its hand at lampooning Ken Burns documentaries last week on “Pillows and Blankets”, we now see Raising Hope trying to parody the revealing Nancy Grace news stories. And who best to help them out with than Nancy Grace herself? Grace has been a little more in the spotlight recently thanks to her infamous turn on Dancing with the Stars last year (Which she hilariously referenced while clutching her breast), so it was great to see that she was so willing to make fun of herself. Seeing Nancy not only break character multiple times, but insult the same gotcha journalism and cheap tactics that have made her famous, was absolutely brilliant. Instructing the audience to stick around for the final two minutes for her big reveal was great, and it goes into the next big part of the episode we need to talk about.

Lucy is alive! After the already huge reveal that Jimmy actually got married to Lucy shortly before she got the electric chair, we get yet another big reveal in that Lucy is actually alive! I hope we get answers to all of our burning questions in next week’s finale. How did she live? What has she been doing all this time? And most important of all, what is she going to do now that she’s free?

Raising Hope has really grown into one of my favorite shows on the air. It’s consistently funny, smart, and the characters are among the most endearing on television. I’m so glad that I’ll be able to watch it and write about for one more season, and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens in the season finale!

Random Thoughts:

– This episode gave me a couple great ideas of some recipes I need to try. Ham and Eggtopuses looks delicious, and Sharkmelons are freaking awesome!!

– It was good to see so many returning bit characters this week, such as Greyson Chance and as young Jimmy and Anthony Anderson as the Chance’s next door neighbor. It’s the minor characters of Natesville that really help bring this show to life.

– Was this the first time we’ve heard the full name of Maw Maw? I think she’s always just been “Maw Maw” until tonight…
