Castle “The Limey” Review – Another Roadblock on the Way to Love

Castle The Limey Season 4 Episode 20

In this episode of Castle, called “The Limey”, we see that Castle’s acting out after finding out that Kate knew about his attestation of love but didn’t say anything. He shows up to a crime scene with a floozy on his arm and acting the playboy. This leaves Beckett to feel hurt and confused, so what happens next? Why of course a drop dead gorgeous detective from Scotland Yard drops in on the case, with an accent to die for and lots of smooth moves (and some maybe not quite as smooth) to help them solve it.

Much as we can expect, Kate is torn between the flirtation going on from Detective Inspector Colin Hunt, and her feelings for Castle. As Lanie tries to tell her friend again and again, Kate seems to be looking for reasons for her and Castle not to be together, using everything from his past exploits with women (which, Lanie correctly points out, hasn’t happened in a while) to the fact that things could get weird between them if it doesn’t work out (a protest that Lanie shoots down as well, pointing out that she and Espo survived their awkward period and have moved on).

In the end, Kate does accept an invite from the limey, putting the show into yet another phase of pulling the two of them farther apart and frankly, I can’t decide how I feel about it. I think all this back and forth might be easier for me if I had a definite side. For instance, on a show like NCIS, whenever anyone suggests that Tony and Ziva get together I am ready to shout “No! No! NO!!”, while on NCIS: Los Angeles, I am a huge supporter of Deeks and Kensi getting together. When the dance goes back and forth on those shows, I know exactly where my loyalties lie.

When it comes to Castle and Beckett though, I just can’t decide…..which probably means that, for the moment anyway, I’m still on board with them not getting together. Maybe I’m more like Beckett than I thought – being too afraid of the bad things that might happen to the show if they became a couple, rather than be willing to take a chance on something that could be wonderful. Lucky for me, I don’t have to write it, I just get to sit back and watch.

My favorite bits..

Lanie pointing out that though she and Espo didn’t work out, at least they gave it a shot. Whoa, great point.

“I feel like I just walked into a bad episode of Miami Vice.”
“Okay first, there are no bad episodes of Miami Vice.” – So with him on that.

Best introduction of a character ever. Who else was wishing that towel would drop? Come on, show of hands people.

Castle comparing the captain to a bear decapitating a moose. Yikes. But yeah, I can see that.

“No, sometimes it’s the people that we think we know best that we don’t really know at all.” – Ouch.

Castle’s shock when he found out that Hunt was in on the case with no protest from the Captain.

Hunt saying “No, what’re you talkin’ bout?”

Lanie telling Beckett that all those people in the drawers thought they had all the time in the world, but no one really does. Wow. Loving all the awesome advice that Lanie is dishing out.

Loving Castle’s action board, complete with the funny little magnet pics of Ryan and Esposito.

“Question: Why does a brown man gotta be a hobo?”
“You want the flowers?”
“Hobo it is.”

The boys nearly losing their jaws on the floor when Hunt came in wearing a tux and Backett came in wearing an evening gown.

“….or they could do that.”

“He’s British. Trust me, he drinks.” Yep, I’ve met my fair share of Brits, and I’ll attest to that.

Beckett getting Nigel to empty his drink. Too bad Hunt wasn’t quite as smooth at getting the glass.

Kinda loving the fact that Castle managed to show up Hunt. The Brit may be hot, but he’s got nothing on our Castle.

Hunt pulling out a pretty good American accent.

“Agent Bauer? What did he expect?”
“I heard that.”

Beckett looking back at Castle before declining Hunt’s invitation.

Castle telling Beckett that his new girl was fun and uncomplicated, and maybe what his life needed right then. Youch.

Beckett calling Colin back to take him up on his offer. Oh boy. Here we go again.
