Bones “The Prisoner in the Pipe” Review – It’s Baby Time!

Bones The Prisoner in the Pipe

In this episode of Bones, called “The Prisoner in the Pipe”, Booth and Brennan solve a murder. That’s about all I need to say about the case. Sure it was interesting, with a guy being dumped in acid and then in a sewer and all, but let’s face it, if you’re a fan of this show like me then all you really care about is the baby. Am I right?

Well, the moment we’ve been waiting for since Brennan dropped her bombshell on Booth last season finally arrives and boy did that arrival come with a lot of excitement. I should’ve known that Booth and Bones wouldn’t have just a normal delivery in a hospital (despite the fact that that was precisely what Booth wanted). No, Brennan has to keep working until literally the last second, forcing her and Booth to pull over to a hotel, be refused a room, and sent – you guessed it – to a stable to give birth. Beautiful baby Christine Angela came into the world under the watchful eye of horses, which actually sounds like a pretty great way to be born if you ask me.

Now I’ve been pretty cautious with this show ever since Booth and Brennan became a couple. I wasn’t sure I was into it because, well, I’ve seen this sort of thing crash and burn on other shows before. But the more I see of them together, the more I see how it will work. After all, not that much has really changed. Before they were in a relationship, Booth and Bones always had something they were arguing about during the course of a case. Now, the thing they argue about is usually related to their relationship; such as a house or where Brennan with give birth. There’s still a case to be solved, they still have all of their wonderful friends around them and I’m glad to see that even with the addition of the newest team member, nothing has really changed.

My favorite bits..

A father assuring his daughter that he poops all by himself.

“She’s so good, I bet she could teach me how to lactate.” – Wow, that’s one heck of a lactation specialist.

Everyone nearly dropping their instruments when Daisy said she was becoming a doula.

“You aren’t getting anywhere near my cervix, Miss Wick.”

“Lady care for some tendon?” – Aw, ain’t Hodgins sweet?

Sweet’s excitement when Booth acknowledged him as a friend.

Brennan almost giving in when Angela and Camille said they would think she was cool if she said it was a stab wound.

“It’s not a toy!….oh who am I kidding? It’s the coolest toy ever.”

“It’s more creepy than nice.”

Daisy actually shouting when she found something on the screen, and scaring poor Hodgins half to death.

Bones’ description of giving birth to a jack-o-lantern. Great, now I’m never going to be able to carve one of those things at Halloween again.

“The bones need a little freshening up after four weeks in the sewer.”
“Who wouldn’t?”

“You’re nose is growing Pinocchio.” – So many dirty jokes, so little time.

Sweets trying to explain why he was half-undressed under Bones’ desk.

Bones arguing that there was nothing wrong with having the baby in a prison, seeing as how they had an accredited health care facility.

Okay I love Hodgins. I really do. But seriously, what is up with his hair?

Bones causing a prison riot.

Booth telling the hotel manager that Brennan would indeed squat on the lawn to have her baby.

Brennan reassuring Booth that the stable was the perfect place to have a baby.

Brennan’s happy laughter after the baby was born and declaring “We’re a family!” – Aww!

Booth handing out hand sanitizer to everyone before they got near the baby.

Finding out they named the baby after Brennan’s mom and Angela. And it was then that I started crying. So sweet!
