30 Rock “The Shower Principle” Reivew

This year’s gonna be different!

The shower principle – moments of inspiration that occur when the brain is distracted from the problem at hand. Is this a real thing? I googled it but of course I got nothing but page after page of articles relating to 30 Rock. This happens to me all the time but I refer to it as procrastination. Although I do experience an astounding amount of mental clarity while in the shower, I also have these moments when I’m putting off something I don’t feel like doing. I think this also happens to me while watching 30 Rock. There are times when I should be engaged in the show and one comment will send me off on a mental tangent during which I may have an epiphany or think of a new project I’d like to undertake. I’ve been referring to that as the 30 Rock digression. Should a show have that effect? Probably not.

While examining whether or not her life is in a continuous rut, Phil Connors endeavors upon a Groundhog Day-like mission to break the cycle of co-worker crazy in which she engages on a daily basis. Mission impossible. It was funny to learn that Liz is Jack’s daily dose of distracting craziness. Fortunately for Jack, Liz is his shower principle. Thanks to a little Liz-sanity based meditation, Jack comes up with his long sought after idea to wow his boss at Kabletown – couches. Or will it be kouches for Kabletown?

I completely forgot that Cerie was once part of the TGS staff at 30 Rock.

Hazel, what the hell?!? Hepatitis? Hard K sounds? Lazel?

I love that Jenna was trained in game show pointing.

Serving as a desk for Tracy is an all new low for Kenneth, who I really thought hit rock bottom several weeks ago.

Jack saw Lou Dobbs step on his own testicles. I wanted to find this funny but it created a really unfortunate image in my head from which I may never recover.

Tracy designed Kate Middleton’s wedding gown?

Liz – underwear in old pants is not okay but having a dvr in your bedroom to resolve recording conflicts is totally fine. I know this from personal experience.

I love Mayor McCheese. I’d like to see more of him on 30 Rock. By the way, was that Kelsey Grammer again?

Sound off below on this week’s episode of 30 Rock. What’s your mantra?
