Showrunner Paul Lieberstein Stepping Down From ‘The Office’

THE OFFICE "Search Committee, Parts 1 & 2"

The Office is losing a member of their team Deadline has shared. The series show runner and executive producer Paul Lieberstein will be stepping down from his post at the end of this season. Meanwhile the NBC comedy is now searching to find somebody else to helm the comedy next year. Lieberstein has reportedly decided to step down so that he can pursue ‘The Office’ spinoff entitled ‘The Farm’ that will star actor Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight on the series. Lieberstein co-created the new show.

On top of the show runner’s decision to leave, as well as Wilson’s, actress Mindy Kaling has also decided to exit the comedy in order to take on her new pilot at the Fox network. Other members of ‘The Office’ such as Ed Helms, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, and John Krasinski are all in talks to possibly return next season, but nothing is concrete as of yet, with reports that contract negotiations have now slowed.

Paul Lieberstein is credited for his work not only on ‘The Office’, but ‘King of the Hill, ‘The Drew Carey Show’, ‘The Bernie Mac Show’, and ‘Greg the Bunny’.

Tell us what you think Office fans; will it be the same without Lieberstein and some of the gang?
