18 CBS Shows Officially Renewed March 15, 2012 CBS, News CBS made a large-scale renewal of shows among their comedy, drama, reality and news-magazines yesterday, a record 18 in all for the 2012-2013 TV season. The renewals include four comedies – ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘2 Broke Girls’ and ‘Mike & Molly’ – nine dramas – ‘NCIS’, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘CSI’, ‘Person of Interest’, ‘The Mentalist’, ‘Blue Bloods’ and ‘The Good Wife’ as well as three reality series – ‘Amazing Race’, ‘Undercover Boss’ and the previously renewed ‘Survivor’ – and two newsmagazines – ’60 Minutes’ and ’48 Hours Mystery’. The returning shows encompass every night of the week and every hour, many of which are number 1 in their time period and some are number 1 on the entire night. Preliminary discussion regarding future season of ‘Two and a Half Men’ are underway between CBS and Warner Bros. Television. Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment had this to say, “This…renewal is testimony to the strength, stability and success of a deep and diverse roster of top-rated programming. It positions us for continued success next season and certainly creates an environment that will give our new shows the best possible chance to succeed”. Statistically CBS is first in viewers with an average of 12.1 million viewers and in adults 25 to 54 years of age and holds a strong second in adults 18 to 49 years of age. Across the board CBS is posting year-to-year growth in the percentage of viewers (1%), in adults 25 to 54 (2%) and in adults 18 to 49 (3%).
