Breaking In Season 2 Premiere Advance Review

Breaking In The Contra Club (3)

I was really upset when Breaking In was cancelled last year, but really happy to hear that FOX had decided to bring it back after all. I had started to get attached to these people and wanted to get to see a little more of their adventures.

And so after months of waiting for its return, Breaking In is back… with a few changes. We get a new addition, Megan Mullally who plays quite the cooky character Veronica Mann. And on a sad note, Michael Rosenbaum (Dutch) doesn’t appear in this episode (boo!).

The season 2 premiere episode “The Contra Club” reestablishes a bit of the gang (minus Dutch) and introduces us to new character Veronica (Mullally), who happens to be the new secretary (or is she?) for Contra Security. Of course Cash can’t wait to pull a prank on her, but is forbidden by Oz (Christian Slater) to do it.

Soon the gang starts to get suspicious of Oz’s behavior, especially when they see him sweat – Oz never sweats. I don’t want to give away what they uncover, but it will affect the rest of the season – good or bad that’s left to be seen.

I will be honest, this is not the strongest episode of Breaking In that I have seen, mostly because the team was toned down a bit and not up to their usual shenanigans, which is what I love about the show. Also I’m not sure how I feel about Veronica’s addition to the group yet. She could either become really annoying or really great.

That said, it’s only episode 1 and if there is something I learned about half hour comedies is that you can’t judge them after just one episode. And since I was a fan of season 1 I am just happy that the gang was given a second chance and can’t wait to see them get back to their old tricks.

Finally I want to leave you with Oz’s opening quote:

“Greetings and salutations, so happy to see you finally came to your senses and gave us another shot.”

(Hint: Pay attention to the name of the client he’s talking to.)

Breaking In returns for its second season tonight, March 6th at 9:30pm on FOX. Don’t forget to tune in.
