Star Trek Legend to Beam Up to The Big Bang Theory

Veteran actor Leonard Nimoy will finally beam up to The Big Bang Theory, fulfilling Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) lifelong dream in an upcoming episode of the popular CBS comedy. There will be a twist to his appearance, however. Nimoy will not be seen in the episode, but he will speak to Sheldon as Spock in a dream sequence.

The folks over at TV Line received confirmation that the Star Trek legend will guest star in the March 29 episode. As fans of the series know, Sheldon’s obsession with the actor has been a recurring theme on the show, dating back to a classic season 2 episode where Penny (Kaley Cuoco) gave Sheldon a napkin autographed by the man himself. And then in the 100th episode, Sheldon received a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Mr. Spock, but it turned out to be the Zachary Quinto incarnation, much to Sheldon’s dismay.

For the most part, Nimoy has retired from on-camera acting, but he did voice an animated William Bell on the fan favorite FOX drama ‘Fringe’ as well as a pre-taped Emmy skit and even in a Bruno Mars music video.

The next new episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory’, now in its fifth season, will air on Thursday, March 8 at 8/7c on CBS.
