‘Weeds Alum Justin Kirk Signs on for Season Eight

WEEDS Season 7 Episode 11

Actor Justin Kirk has reupped for another season of highs (and lows) on Weeds, which is returning to Showtime for its eighth and likely last season. Kirk will join series lead Mary-Louise Parker as well as Kevin Nealon for one last time on the cabler’s dark comedy about a suburban mother-turned marijuana dealer.

Not surprisingly after his long-run on ‘Weeds’ and his much-buzzed about performance in the TV mini-series ‘Angels in America’, Kirk was among the sought-after actors for this pilot season, receiving multiple offers, but settling on the NBC single-camera comedy pilot ‘Animal Kingdom’.

Besides his work on ‘Weeds’, Kirk has recently had a recurring role on ‘Modern Family’ and appeared in TV shows such as ‘Everwood’, ‘Without a Trace’, ‘CSI’ and the short-lived WB shows ‘Jack & Bobby’ and ‘Jack & Jill’. He will be seen in the independent box office film ‘Goats’ that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

An official premiere date for the 8th season of ‘Weeds’ has yet to be announced by Showtime, but it is expected later this year. [Source: Deadline]
