BBC Four To Air ‘Dirk Gently’ Three Part Mini-Series

BBC Four will be bringing back Detective Dirk Gently for a three part miniseries with actor Stephen Mangan in the titular role. After airing a one hour episode back in 2010, the Douglas Adams adaption, with a screenplay from Howard Overman, received rave reviews, pulling in over 1 million viewers.

Back with three new episodes, ‘Dirk Gently’ will delve back into the world of intrigue and mystery when he attempts to help a man who believes the Pentagon is after him, locate a missing robot and solve a murder at his old university, as well as prove his own innocence when his clients turn up dead.

All three episodes were each written by Overman, Matt Jones, and Jamie Mathieson. The star of the series, Stephen Mangan, has since released a statement regarding his reprisal of Dirk. “Slipping back into Dirk’s pointy shoes to renew my double act with Darren Boyd for three brand new episodes is, for me, about as good as it gets. I wish I WAS Dirk.”

Writer Howard Overman also shared in the excitement. “It’s a real honour to back in the world of Dirk’s holistic detection methods. He’s the loosest of loose cannons and it’s always fun putting such outrageous lines in his mouth to see them so skillfully delivered by Stephen Mangan and the rest of the brilliant cast.”

Are you looking forward to the Holistic Detective, Dirk Gently’s, return to the BBC Four? The series will make its comeback this March.
