Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s ‘Life’s Too Short’ Review

If you enjoyed Ricky’s Gervais The Office and Extras and tend to enjoy his sense of humor, you’re going to love Life’s Too Short, Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s latest series a faux documentary starring Warwick Davis (“Willow,” the “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” films) as a fictionalized version of himself: a little person struggling to get his career back on the rails while running a talent agency for other showbiz little people called “Dwarves for Hire.”

On his quest to get back to the top, Warwick hangs around and seeks the advice of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (playing versions of themselves), who seem less than enthusiastic he’ always around, I mean they thought they put the buzzer high enough for him not to reach it!

In addition, each episode features cameos by some great stars including Liam Neeson in the first, Johnny Depp, Sting, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Carell and Kat Deeley.

As for Warwick Davis, he’s excellent and it’s always great when people are able to make fun of themselves. And of course Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are their brilliant selves.

Life’s Too Short will not appeal to everyone because of its awkward/cringy sense of humor, but I thought it was hilarious. I mean Johnny Depp’s guest appearance alone is worth watching. And since I’m a fan of pretty much everything Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant do, I of course enjoyed this one as well. It’s definitely getting a season pass on my DVR.

Don’t forget to watch Life’s Too Short when it premieres, tonight, February 19th, at 10:30pm on HBO.
