Rachel Berry’s Dads Finally Get Cast for ‘Glee’

There has been a lot of speculation recently about which actors would end up portraying the gay, adoptive parents of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) on Glee. That speculation can now end with the announcement that actor Jeff Goldblum and Broadway veteran Brian Stokes Mitchell will be playing Hiram and LeRoy Berry.

According to TV Line, the actors will first appear in the Valentine’s Day episode of the FOX musicomedy, which not so ironically will actually air on February 14, entitled “Heart”.

It should not be surprising, either, that both actors will sing, as Mitchell is “something of a Great White Way legend”, having appeared in big productions like Man of La Mancha and Kiss Me Kate (for which he won a Best Actor Tony Award in 2000) and Goldblum is an accomplished jazz pianist who, in 1971, made his Broadway debut in the musical ‘Two Gentleman in Verona”.

As movie-goers will recall, Goldblum has appeared in the box office films ‘Independence Day’, ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘The Fly’ (among many others) and he more recently appeared in the TVseries ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ while Mitchell was the onscreen nemesis of Fraiser Crane on the TV comedy ‘Fraiser’and appeared in the 1970’s medical classic TV series ‘Trapper John, MD’.
