NBC Has Not Cancelled ‘Community’

COMMUNITY "Advanced Gay" Season 3 Episode 6 (8)

NBC has finally addressed rumors surrounding the cancellation of the fan favorite show, Community, during this past Friday’s Television Critics Association winter press tour that was held in Pasadena, per TV Line. According to the network’s entertainment chief, Bob Greenblatt, the comedy series “has not been cancelled.” Greenblatt also shared that the show will be back on the line-up, and is slated to return to the air this coming spring at some point.

The NBC chief also spoke about his failure to explain the details behind ‘Community’ previously. “When I announced our midseason changes last fall and took ‘Community’ off the schedule, I failed to explicitly say that it would be back. I want to expel any notion that it is just disappearing off the schedule.”

A relief for fans, NBC is still (by the sounds of it) trying to figure out how their line-up will work best. “’Community’ was moved to 8 o’clock a couple of years ago, and that’s an incredibly competitive time slot now on Thursday. I’m really curious to see what something else will do there. We have a really tight schedule with comedies [so it’s] really going to be a matter of looking at what happens with the six comedies we’ve got at midseason.”
