Canadian Hit Series ‘Flashpoint’ Gets Renewed for Fifth Season

The hit Canadian series Flashpoint has been renewed for a fifth season. This is not only good news for the Canadian fans, but also American viewers who watch the series on ION. ION made the renewal announcement earlier this week, stating the police drama has been picked up for 13 more episodes, which will begin filming in February.

‘Flashpoint’ follows the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of police in the Strategic Response Unit, which consists of highly-skilled members trained in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the subject’s head to understand the emotional breaking point (the “flashpoint”) that triggered the crisis. The cast includes Hugh Dillon (‘Durham County’), the team leader and lead sniper; Enrico Colantoni (‘Veronica Mars’), the team sergeant and head negotiator; Amy Jo Johnson (‘Felicity’), team profiler and secondary negotiator; David Paetkau (‘Whistler’), the young, hot-shot sniper; Sergio Di Zio (‘Just Buried’), the bomb tech and communications and Cle Bennett (‘The Line’), the team’s newest diamond-in-the-rough recruit.

‘Flashpoint’ joined the network’s primetime schedule in October 2011 after the network acquired all episodes from seasons
1 through 3 along with 11 season four original episodes.

New episodes of ‘Flashpoint’ are currently airing on ION. Please check your local listings for airdates and times.
