Hawaii Five-0 “Ka Ho’oponopono” Review

Kono, Chin, Steve and Danno - Hawaii Five-0

In this episode of Hawaii Five-0, titled “Ka Ho’oponopono”, the team is on the hunt for a murderer who suffocated a young girl in her own bed. The usual suspects are trotted out, including a somewhat troubled boyfriend, a sleazy old man sleeping with teenage girls and even a geek who’s been blackmailing seemingly an entire school. None of them add up and just as I was starting to get suspicious of the dad (I mean come on, he was practically the only one left), they dig deeper and find another connection. Turns out it was all because of an $800 million dollar building project, and a girl had to die to keep the truth from popping up in a simple court case. After finding that out, I can’t say that I was all that sad when the guy behind it all took a header off a building.

Meanwhile things are really coming to a head with Joe and the whole “did or did he not kill Hiro?” thing. Steve is still trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt but when Hiro’s men attack Chin’s car and then go so far as to kidnap Joe and try to beat the truth out of him, he’s had all he can take. I’ve been on Joe’s side all along but at that point I was about ready to punch him myself just to find out what the heck was actually going on.

Finally we get one morsel of the story out of Joe when he admits to Steve that he didn’t kill Hiro so much as help the guy fake his own death. Of course, being the man of mystery that he is, he leaves Steve (and us) hanging as to WHY he did that and I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see now.

My favorite bits..

Hm, methinks Joe doesn’t look too happy to see Chin.

“What can I say, I’m a sucker for karaoke.” – Aren’t we all, my friend?

Danny’s declaration that sometimes he hated his job, especially when looking at a dead girl.

Steve asking Lori if her high school boyfriend was a eunuch. Har.

Danny admitting that he hadn’t been a jock in high school, but he did chase all the cheerleaders. And why does that not surprise me one bit?

Totally feeling for Steve, but thinking that Chin also has a point. Joe is definitely not telling everything, though I’m not convinced he killed Hiro.

Danny begging Steve to let him hit the creep just once. I was so with him on that.

“People already died son. I’m trying to make it stop!”

Agreeing with Danny as soon as I heard the story from the dad about being on the jury. There is no way it’s not connected to the murder.

Sullivan sobering up when Steve asked him how he slept at night knowing he murdered a little girl. This guy needs to work on his poker face.

Not being able to help laughing out loud when I saw Steve was holding Ray above a cliff (well at least he thought it was one), with a bag over his head.

“Good news is you’re alive. Bad news is you’re under arrest.”

Yay! Another “Book’em Danno.”

Wondering why Danny wasn’t helping Steve pull Sullivan up. Oh well, I guess it takes a while to handcuff someone. Oops.

The look on Steve’s face when he was driving Joe home. Talk about “if looks could kill..”

Wait. Joe did what??

Steve slamming on the breaks and screaming at Joe that he was tortured over Shelburne and he deserved answers.
