Oscar Winner Helen Mirren to Grace ‘Glee’

She has played the Queen of England in her Oscar winning performance in The Queen and has played a retired assassin in the black comedy Red and a retired Mossad special agent in The Debt. Now legendary and renowned British actress Helen Mirren will be gracing the cast of Glee with her presence.

Okay, let’s rephrase that. According to TV Line, Mirren will guest star on the FOX musicomedy but she will be heard and not seen. In a twist, Mirren will provide the “inner voice” for one of the characters on the show who, for now, is remaining nameless.

A source for the show and/or network informed TV Line that “Helen came in and secretly recorded several long and hilarious monologues weeks ago”. It was also revealed that “the role was written for Mirren, but there was no guarantee she’d actually do it. So producers dispatched frequent ‘Glee’ director Eric Stoltz to sell her on the idea. He “apparently didn’t have to twist her arm too hard though, as it is said that Helen is a big fan of the show”.

There is no information on which episode(s) for which Mirren will be featured, but the next new episode of ‘Glee’ is set to air on FOX on January 17 at 8/7c.
