MTV Is Bringing Back ‘Punk’d’

MTV is bringing back the hidden camera comedy series Punk’d. The show, that previously ran from 2003 through 2007 with host Ashton Kutcher (That 70’s Show, Two and a Half Men), is slated to make a comeback next year on the music network. The show will be executive produced by Katalyst, Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher’s banner.

Although the show featured Kutcher on as host previously, playing hilarious pranks on his celebrity counterparts, MTV and producers plan to revamp Punk’d with the help of a new host. The name of the new host has yet to be released. MTV plans to air preview footage of the show on New Year’s Eve, revealing what fans can expect to see in 2012.

The sneak peek will air on December 31st during MTV’s annual live New Year’s Eve party, NYE in NYC 2012, that will kick off at 11:30pm est. The special event will be hosted by singer Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey of MTV’s Teen Wolf. Along with an inside look at Punk’d viewers will also get to see musical performances by Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, J Cole, Jason Derulo and Mac Miller. The special will take place at MTV’s Times Square studio.
