Angel Alum Amy Acker to Appear on ‘Once Upon a Time’

Amy Acker

Actress Amy Acker, who joined the Whedonverse (that is Joss Whedon for those who are uninitiated) as Fred on the popular vampire series ‘Angel’ and later appeared on the short-lived series ‘Dollhouse’, has landed a guest starring role in an upcoming episode of the hit ABC fairytale drama Once Upon a Time.

According to TV Line, she will appear as a romantic interest for both Grumpy (of the Seven Dwarves) and his surly Storybrooke counterpart, Leroy (Lee Arenberg) in an episode that will delve into the backstory of his character. It has also been revealed that Acker’s character – which has not been identified by name or any specific storyline – will appear in both worlds.

This isn’t the first time a Whedonverse alum will guest star in the new hit series. As we reported here, ‘Buffy’ alum Emma Caulfield will appear as the Blind Witch from Hansel and Gretel lore.

Besides her work on ‘Angel’ and ‘Dollhouse’, Acker has appeared in the short-lived shows ‘Happy Town’ and ‘No Ordinary Family’ and she just starred in the Lifetime holiday film ‘Dear Santa’. Ironically (or not), Acker will also guest star in an upcoming episode of the NBC fairytale series ‘Grimm’ later this season.

‘Once Upon a Time’ will be back on ABC – after its break for the holidays – with all new episodes from its debut season starting on Sunday, January 8 at 8/7c.
