Being Human’s Russell Tovey Leaving the Show

Last week the shocking news hit the net courtesy of Blastr that lovable actor Russell Tovey, who plays werewolf George on the BBC hit series Being Human, has announced he is leaving the sci-fi drama.

For the past three seasons Tovey has starred as one of a trio of unique housemates (a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf) in Being Human, which is the basis for the Syfy series of the same name that debuted last season. At the end of the latest season, vampire Mitchell, played by actor Aidan Turner, was killed off, making room for Turner to appear in the upcoming box office film The Hobbitt. It is believed this departure is the reason for Tovey’s leaving.

Here is what Tovey shared in a recent article via The Guardian (a UK newspaper): “Well, I’ve actually left Being Human but no one [outside of the show] knows yet. Aidan (has) left to film The Hobbit in New Zealand and going on without him on this fourth series felt strange.” He also went on Twitter to post that he was leaving the show.

What is unclear, however, is when his departure will actually take place.

Being Human is expected to return to BBC America (for American audiences) sometime next year.
