WHITNEY “The Wire” Review

WHITNEY “The Wire” Season 1 Episode 5 – Will there ever, ever be an episode of Whitney where she and Alex aren’t caught in some great battle of wills instigated by her craziness? This week, we were treated (and I use that word loosely) to “The Wire,” wherein Whitney attempts to prove that Alex speaks to her in a condescending voice by having their police friend install a hidden camera and microphone in their apartment.

Here’s a hint, Whitney. He speaks to you like a child because you act like one!

Serious, I’ve given this girl five weeks and I still find her insane in a totally annoying way. She just will not lay off her poor boyfriend. So what if he doesn’t wash his jeans every day? She’s been living with him for three years and she just now noticed this? And take it from this hypocondriac…even I know that you can’t get a staph infection from unwashed denim.

In the middle of these wacky (and only slight illegal) hijinks, Alex’s brother (played by MTV’s “The State” veteran Ken Marino…who is so much better than this show) drops by and Whitney learns that the tone is genetic and both brothers have it. Thanks to her hidden camera, she has proof. A life-long sibling feud is laid to rest.

Yet again, I find myself so much more entertained by Whitney’s friends than by her. Still, I wouldn’t hang out with them because they hang out with her and there’s guilt in association.

Maybe it Whitney took it down a few notches I could stomach her better. Or how about having an episode where she’s not constantly on Alex’s back about one thing or another? Seriously, what keeps these two people together?! In real life, they would have called it quits a long time ago.

Whitney…I think you and I will just have to agree to disagree on everything.

What did you think of the episode? Would you ever bug your significant other to prove a point? Would you like the show to be handed over to the posse of friends? Let me know below!
