A Teen Sensation and a Tony Award Winner To Appear on SMASH

The new musical-based drama SMASH doesn’t debut on NBC until mid-season, but two big names have been added as guest stars: Nick Jonas and Bernadette Peters.

According to E! Online, the teen sensation (Jonas) will play Lyle West, a child actor turned sitcom star who got his start on Broadway while Peters (the Tony Award winner) will play Leigh Conroy, Ivy’s (series regular Megan Hilty) Tony-award winning mother who turns into a total stage parent, living vicariously through her daughter.

Smash tells the story of Broadway producers attempting to put together a new play about Marilyn Monroe, showing – from start to finish – the intricate layers of preparation involved in such an undertaking.

The new series, which stars Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Anjelica Huston and Jack Davenport, premieres February 6 on NBC.
