DEXTER Season 6 Premiere Advance Review – Is That Dexter Dancing?

DEXTER Those Kinds of Things Season 6 Episode 1 (7)
We’ve been waiting almost a year after what I thought was one of the best season of DEXTER (if not the best), and he has finally returned to our screens. Tonight, Dexter is back and as good as ever, which really isn’t a surprise if you have been watching for the past 5 years. Each year the writers bring back the show and give us exactly what we want and more (seriously, while there have been seasons that I have enjoyed more and others less, there has never been a season of Dexter I disliked).

And after seeing the premiere episode, it seems that season 6 of Dexter is on its way to another great one to add to the list.

The season starts with Dexter back doing what he does best…killing bad guys. But he also has other things to worry about, like his High School reunion. But this is Dexter after all so expect him to pursue some extra homework during the night.

Oh and did I mention he is also trying to find a pre-school for Harrison, which actually brings out a few fun scenes regarding faith. It’s just so Dexter, I loved it.

As for the rest of the characters this season? Well, Masuka has new interns this season out of which he will pick one to be his intern. Hint: we interviewed the lucky winner earlier this year if you want some more info about the character. However, nothing major happens in the premiere, but it’s definitely going to be interesting seeing these two together.

Deb is still with Quinn and I won’t say too much about that but expect some action involving these two in the premiere. It’s pretty intense.

As for LaGuerta and Batista, well there are some developments both personally and professionally, but since I don’t want to spoil it, I’ll let you discover what they are.

Now on to the interesting part, the new nemesis or at least the people who look like the new nemesis. We don’t know their names yet, but you might recognize the actors portraying them as Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) and Colin Hanks (The Good Guys). Let me tell you, so far these two are really freaky. I’m not sure what’s going on with them yet, but I’m not even sure I want to know. That said these two seem like really interesting characters and I cannot wait to find out how they get involved with Dexter.

Oh and this is probably a good time to warn you, if you don’t like snakes this episode isn’t for you.

Overall, as a mentioned this is a really strong premiere that will put you right back into Dexter’s world. And there is plenty to look forward to for this season. In fact I will leave you with two things:

1) The best quote of the night:

“It’s a miracle I graduated without killing anyone.” -Dexter on High School

2) Best part of the episode, two words:

Dexter Dancing

Don’t forget to tune in tonight, October 2, at 9pm on Showtime and watch the season 6 premiere of Dexter.
