sabrina the teenage witch animation

Archie Comics has announced that they are working on a SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH animated TV series, L.A. Times has reported. This past Wednesday, Archie Comics made public their new partnership with MoonScoop Entertainment. Together the two will revamp Sabrina, bringing her back to modern times with what they say will be a new look featuring “skinny jeans, spiky hair, and a tattoo.”

Executive of Archie Comics, Jon Goldwater, talked about breathing new life into the iconic witch after almost a decade. “This is the first new animation for Sabrina in almost 10 years. It’s a combination of Twilight meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer..she’s more modern.”

Dusting the well known character off, along with her sidekick Salem the cat, should prove to be successful for a new generation of fans. The creators also plan on adding more action and a heightened “supernatural realm.” “With Harry Potter coming to an end, we wanted to fill that void,” said MoonScoop Chief Executive Mike Young.

“She’s a teenage girl with superpowers, for god’s sake. So Sabrina fits perfectly.” With the animated series currently in the works, fans can look for Sabrina the Teenage Witch on the small screen sometime next year in October 2012. Will you be tuning in to the show?
