Cable Network Starz Renews New Series BOSS For Second Season (Already!)

Even though the new Starz drama BOSS has yet to debut on the cable network the series has received a second season order.

Boss stars Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) as Chicago Mayor Tom Kane, who holds sway over just about everything in his city. When faced with a terrible secret that threatens to topple his power, his true character is revealed: it’s not power that drives Tom Kane, but his fear of losing it.

Cast members include Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Tom’s wife Meredith, a formidable Chicago power in her own right; Jeff Hephner (Hellcats) as ambitious young politician Alex Zajac; Hannah Ware (Cop Out) as the Kanes’ estranged daughter Emma; Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Mayor Kane’s supremely organized aide Kitty O’Neil; Martin Donovan (Unnatural History) as Kane’s savvy senior advisor who helps the Mayor achieve his agenda; and Troy Garity (Sunshine) as enterprising journalist Sam Miller, who is zeroing in on Kane.

The first season of Boss contains 8 episodes and will debut on Starz starting on October 21 at 10/9c. While the second season has received a 10-episode order with production set to begin in early 2012.
