William Shatner will appear in the upcoming season of the cop drama ROOKIE BLUE, TV Line is exclusively reporting. The T.J. Hooker alumni will make his big debut in the third season opener alongside the estatic ABC cast.

Talking with Blue’s executive producer, Tassie Cameron told TV Line that the guest role has been tailored with Shatner in mind, sharing that “we’re really happy that he said yes.” Shatner is slated to play a “very drunk driver,” with Cameron adding that the star’s role “starts comic and ends dramatic, so we’re hoping it gives him a chance to do what he does so well. He’s got such a great range.”

Former Everwood alumni Gregory Smith, who is widely known to loyal fans as Ephram Brown of the WB series, sounds to be the happiest out of the cast and crew. “Gregory Smith, I think, is more excited about this than he is about any actor he’s ever worked with.”

Rookie Blue will air its last episode of the season this week, but it won’t be long before season 3 hits the air. The cast is currently filming the third season in Toronto. Are you excited that seasoned vet William Shatner will be making an appearance in the show?
