NCIS: Los Angeles Show Runner Spills on Show’s Crossover with HAWAII FIVE-0

Shane Brennan, the show runner for NCIS: Los Angeles recently shared a limited look at the upcoming crossover between the hit series and the CBS remake of HAWAII FIVE-0.

Kensi Blye (NCIS: Los Angeles regular Daniela Ruah) will be jettisoning to the Hawaiian isles (as we reported here) to “kick some ass”; but it wasn’t hard to convince the actress to make the trek across the ocean.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Brennan joked, “Interestingly, Daniela has never been to Hawaii, so it took no convincing”. And, while he declined to give too many details of the case that finds Kensi working with the team on Hawaii Five-0, he did share, “It’s an appearance on that show that’s important and has impact (but it’s) not a big appearance”. Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles will, however, want to watch because there will be some references to it in the future.

While there are no current plans for another crossover, Brennan is open to it, stating “there are possibilities (depending on the story lines). Those things happen without a lot of planning. It’s not anything you plan and set before. It’s something that pops up in the writing…it has to be organic or else it feels bolted on. It has to be a natural extension of the story that’s going on. For Hawaii Five-0, that’s exactly what it is”.

Hawaii Five-0 will be back on CBS for its second season starting September 19 at 10/9c while NCIS: Los Angeles will be back with its third season on the eye network starting on September 20 at 9/8c.
