Actor David Cross, who is best known by Arrested Development fans for his hilarious portrayal of Tobias Funke will be bringing his cat like reflexes to ABC’s MODERN FAMILY. Cross, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will join the new season as Duane, a city councilman who will get under Claire’s (Julie Bowen) skin causing the two “go toe-to-toe”.

David Cross has most recently been seen in the Fox series Running Wilde opposite actress Keri Russell (Felicity) where he played the character Dr. Andy Weeks in a lengthy multi episode arc on the show. The forty-seven year old’s other works include Kung Fu Panda 2, Alvin and the Chipmunks and the possible and highly anticipated Arrested Development movie.

Cross is slated to appear in Modern Family’s third season that will kick of on ABC September 21st with two new episodes (Dude Ranch and When Good Kids Go Bad) set to air back to back. The combined hour will follow the families on a trip to a ranch as well as Mitch and Cam’s party celebration with the news that they will be adopting once again.

Sounds like Modern Family’s new season should be entertaining, especially with the crazy David Cross on board! Are you ready for another great year?
