With a number of networks toting super successful sci-fi shows and comic book adaptions (HBO’s True Blood and AMC’s The Walking Dead), Showtime looks to be getting into the game with an upcoming adaption of THE DAMNED. Scheduled to be a one hour drama per the always reliable TV Guide, The Damned comic series is a creation from Cullen Bunn that follows “Eddie, a man who rises from the dead”, who ends up going “toe to toe with demonic mob bosses.”

Undergoing a bit of a revamp for modern times, the original version took place in Chicago, during its Prohibition days. The series will be penned by writer David Hayter of X-Men fame, with Warren Littlefield (My Generation), Eric Gitter (Leaves of Grass), Joe Nozemack (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and new comer Andy Bourne, all scheduled to produce the comic book series.

Aside from adding The Damned to their future slate, Showtime has also picked up a trio of other pilots. Announced this past Monday, the network has taken on a comedy named Gurland on Gurland, Masters of Sex, which is a book adaption, and a drama from Southland creator Ann Biderman.
