BREAKING BAD Season 5 Announced – It Will Be Its Last

AMC has renewed its Emmy® Award-winning and critically acclaimed drama series BREAKING BAD for its fifth and final season with a 16 episode order.

Production on all episodes of the final order will commence in early 2012, but a premiere date has yet to be set for the conclusion of the series.

Even though it will be sad to see the series go, it’s good to know that it will be sent off under creator Vince Gilligan’s own terms.

Breaking Bad is currently airing episodes of its fourth season on Sundays at 10pm.

In case you didn’t know: Breaking Bad first premiered on AMC in January 2008 and follows protagonist Walter White, a milquetoast high school chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife, teenage son who has cerebral palsy and a new baby girl. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to gain financial security for his family, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in this world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White’s releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild-mannered family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

Thoughts? Are you sad to see Breaking Bad go? Are you glad we’ll at least get a conclusion to Walter White’s storyline?
