Is This the End of EUREKA on Syfy?

Five Questions for Eureka Season 4_5_Big Event
As reported by Deadline last week, Syfy is expected to order six more episodes of the popular series EUREKA, which could effectively bring the show to a close.

But fans shouldn’t lose all hope just yet because the network’s Programming Chief Mark Stern released the following: “Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia have brought a creative vitality to Eureka that has kept it fresh and inventive. Although we do not have a commitment beyond six episodes for the sixth season, we are hopeful that this will not be the end of the franchise.” Since the statement does not state ‘the end of the series’ this can provide fans with a glimmer of hope for a brighter future where the series is concerned.

Eureka is set in the fictional town of Eureka, Oregon, which is inhabited almost entirely by geniuses and scientists. The show stars a multi-cultured cast including Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Neil Grayston and Erica Cerra.

The cable network is currently airing Season 4.5 with the cast and crew now filming the 13 episodes of Season 5, which is expected to wrap at the end of this month. Then in October, they will be back together to film the aforementioned (final) six episodes for Season 6.

As a fan of this delightful show, I certainly hope this 6-episode order for Season 6 is just a precursor to more episodes being added.

What do you Eureka fans think? Should the show get more episodes or is it time for the show to come to a close?
