FALLING SKIES “Sanctuary, Part 2” Advance Review

FALLING SKIES Sanctuary, Part 2 Episode 7

FALLING SKIES “Sanctuary, Part 2” Season 1, Episode 7 – Once again, I got a sneak peek at this week’s episode of Falling Skies. After last week’s crazy cliffhanger, you’ll be happy to know that the follow up episode does not disappoint. This particular arc has delivered so much of what I had originally wanted to see from Falling Skies and I think it’s fair to say that the series has improved immensely since its earlier episodes (which I thought were pretty decent to begin with.)

There were so many great moments in this episode of Falling Skies that hit a wide range of emotions from terror to elation. We spend more time at the 7th Massachusetts’ sanctuary house and get a better idea of how things have been running at that place. Here, Hal steps into a place of leadership to protect and guide the kids of the 2nd Massachusetts after they begin to suspect that things are not what they seem at the safe house. Adults often underestimate the resourcefulness and determination of kids in difficult situations and I really enjoyed seeing the conflict from their point of view.

For those of you that like the action packed moments of Falling Skies, this episode maintains the intense suspense from the previous episode. Pope is back in the picture and nothing goes quite as planned when he’s around. You can never be sure what to expect from him and I still don’t know if I should think of him as one of the good guys or one of the bad guys. Whatever he is, he adds a nice edge to the episode.

We get even more cryptic hints about the nature of the Skitters and as the mystery unfolds, the aliens that are being revealed are not as one dimensional as they seemed in the Falling Skies pilot. I’m not sure what to make of it just yet, but I’m anxious to see where the story goes from here and to find out more about what these Skitters really want and why they came to Earth in the first place.
