News Mania: WHITE COLLAR Theme Song, Russell Tovey in SHERLOCK, Soaps Go Online, and more

For today’s News Mania, we put together a few news items we missed this week.

  • Don’t like the new White Collar theme song? Yeah, neither do we. And now, you can do something about it. USA Network and the series producers have created a poll to give viewers the opportunity to vote on whether to keep the new sequence or revert back to the previous version.
    The voting begins on Friday, July 8 and ends Wednesday, July 13 at noon ET on Character Chatter.
    The winning theme song will air during the Tuesday, July 19 episode and remain the main title sequence for the entire third season, so pick wisely!

  • Being Human‘s Russell Tovey has been cast in BBC’s Sherlock. He will play the role of Sir Henry Baskerville, Sir Charles Baskerville’s nephew in The Hound of the Baskervilles. [Tovey’s Twitter]
  • Shameless‘ Karen (Lip Gallagher’s on and off “girlfriend”) might be getting a new love interest in Season 2. Zach McGowan has joined the show as Jody, Karen’s new friend. Wonder where that leave Lip? [TVLine]
  • All My Children and One Life to Live will continue to live online thanks to ABC licensing the two soaps to Prospect Park. Prospect Park will produce and provide the series via online formats and additional emerging platforms including internet enabled television sets.
    ABC will broadcast its final episode of All My Children on Friday, September 23rd and will air the final episode of One Life to Live in January, 2012.

  • Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will return as judges for Season 11 of American Idol. Still no word on whether Jennifer Lopez would return as well. [Inside TV]
  • All four musician coaches of NBC’s The Voice – Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – will return next season when the series resumes in mid-season on Mondays (8-10 p.m. ET).
