MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE “Whatever Gets You Through the Night” Advance Review

men of a certain age

Once again I had the opportunity to preview tonight’s episode of MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE entitled “Whatever Gets You Through the Night”. The title directly reflects Owen’s state of mind and lack of sleep in his worry and struggle to keep the dealership afloat. I have to admit that quite a few times already this season I have wondered if it is just a matter of time until Owen has a heart attack. I found myself thinking about that again when watching this episode. I hope that does not happen and that things turn around for him. However, Owen shoulders quite the responsibility in all aspects of his life, very rarely showing any weakness or emotion. The word that comes to me is “unwavering.” Even though we know he has inner turmoil and conflict and doubt, his employees never get to see that. I think Owen has the ability to turn the dealership around and I hope we get to see that happen before the end of the season.

Speaking of seeing some hope, Terry seems to be on track. After last week’s reunion with Erin and the spur of the moment idea to move in together, I wondered what this week would have in store. Perhaps Terry has actually found his place? He seems happy. When Owen offers him an opportunity he is hesitant to take at the dealership, Terry eventually relents and finds a way to take it and improve upon it. I found myself rooting for Terry, something I have not done in quite some time.

Then we have Joe. As I have said in past reviews, it was only a matter of time before the side bets Joe took behind Manfro’s back caught up with him. Tonight is that time. It isn’t pretty and it comes at a bad time for Joe, but in the end I actually think something good comes out of it. Maybe one cannot begin again without reaching the very bottom? I now find myself rooting for Joe too and it feels good.
