THE VOICE “Live Show, Quarter-Finals 1” Review

The Voice
THE VOICE “Live Show, Quarter-Finals 1” Season 1 Episode 7 – Hello everyone! So there have been requests for us to review NBC’s THE VOICE and since I watch the show, I decided to take a stab at it.

After a few Battle Rounds, which I can’t say I was too crazy about (apart for a couple), tonight was the very first first live show for The Voice.

What does that mean? Well, each contestant from Team Christina and Team Blake took the stage one at a time and performed a song in order to get a chance to move on in the competition. And in order to move on, they need to either be an audience pick (from voting results) or a judge’s pick (I’m guessing the coach will pick one singer to save for the next round).

And so let’s talk about these performances!

First I must start with the judges opening performance of Queen songs, which was a lot of fun and to be honest, was also one of the reasons I was excited to tune in tonight. Can we have them perform each episode, please!

But let’s focus on the contestants. I will break down my thoughts per team in the order they appeared. So here they are:

TEAM CHRISTINA

Raquel Castro – She wasn’t really great, I’m actually surprised she made it that far because even her battle round was weak. I don’t know what the judges were listening to, but I’m guessing she won’t be moving on.

Beverly McClellan – I thought she did really good. I’m not a fan yet, but she definitely has a really strong voice.

Lily Elise – She was just ok for me. Not bad, but not great either. I really don’t have much else to say.

Frenchie Davis – I enjoyed her performance, she has quite a powerful voice. Also I think I like Frenchie because I saw her perform in Rent on Broadway and she was fantastic.

Group performance – Is it wrong that I was hoping Christina would sing the whole song herself? But more seriously, I also enjoyed Frenchie and Beverly, who were the strongest of the four. Which pretty much confirms what my thoughts on their individual performances.

TEAM BLAKE

Jared Blake – He was pretty good, although the performance was not that original. It sounded pretty much exactly like the original song. If this was American Idol, I would say he didn’t make it his own. 😉

Dia Frampton – Wow! I love her! She had been one of my early favorites and she just proved why tonight. Best of the night.

Xenia – I love Xenia’s voice, but I really think her shyness is her downfall right now because it prevents her from going that extra step and lose herself in the song. Still one of my favorites and I’m hoping she moves on in the competition.

Patrick Thomas – Since I don’t adore Country and had my share of it on American Idol, this was just ok for me.

Group performance – “This Love” by Maroon 5 was such a fun pick especially since Adam Levine was totally getting into it. Of course my favorite was Dia.

VERDICT

I have to give this one to Team Blake and more specifically to Dia and Xenia, they were both fantastic and I hope they stick around, because I want to hear more performances from them.

As for Team Christina, I hope that Frenchie and Beverly stick around.

So that’s me. What about you? Do you agree with my favorites? Who are you hoping sticks around?

Random Note:

– Doesn’t it suck that we have to wait a whole week to find out the results?! American Idol you have spoiled me, I want the results now!

– Was anyone else annoyed by the blond host talking about twitter all the time? Thank God for the fast forward button, it was getting really irritating.

I have also added some photos from tonight’s episode for you to enjoy below.
