From Queen of the Visitors to Soldier’s Wife, Morena Baccarin Arrives in HOMELAND

Morena Baccarin as Anna

Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly) has joined the cast of Showtime’s new drama series HOMELAND. She will star opposite Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin.

The series centers on Sgt. Nick Brody (Lewis), an American soldier, who is taken prisoner during the Iraq invasion in 2003. Baccarin plays the role of Jessica Brody, Nick’s intrepid and complicated wife. Left for dead, Nick miraculously returns to the U.S. after years in captivity. Carrie Anderson (Danes), a driven CIA officer battling her own psychological demons, becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to Nick’s rescue was a setup and that this national hero may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil. Mandy Patinkin plays Saul, a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.

The series is produced by Fox 21, and is written by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff. Gordon and Gansa (24) also serve as executive producers. Beginning production this month, Homeland is slated to premiere in the fall on Showtime.

Have you seen the trailer? I think the cast sounds great; but this show could either be the most depressing and unnerving of the season, or a thrilling psychological mind game. What are your initial opinions of Homeland?
