Battlestar Galactica’s Edward James Olmos Takes On DEXTER

Edward James Olmos

Great news, DEXTER fans! Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning actor Edward James Olmos has just been added to the already stellar list of guest stars for next season, including Colin Hanks and Mos (formerly Mos Def). The former Battlestar Galactica front runner also joins a rather distinguished list of previous guest stars such as Jimmy Smits, John Lithgow and Julia Stiles. Production on the hit series starts May 25 in Los Angeles and will premiere on Showtime this fall.

A little birdie tells us that Olmos will play a brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies. In addition to his acting roles, Olmos is also a director and activist. Among his most memorable roles are William Adama in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, Lt. Martin Castillo in Miami Vice, teacher Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver, patriarch Abraham Quintanilla in the film Selena, Detective Gaff in Blade Runner, and narrator El Pachuco in both the stage and film versions of Zoot Suit. His first big break was a starring role in Luis Valdez’s play, Zoot Suit, in 1978. The play moved to Broadway and led to a Tony nomination. He received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his starring role in Stand and Deliver. Other credits include American Me (his directing debut), The Green Hornet and appearances on The West Wing and American Family.

So what do you think, Dexter fans? Has this news got you pumped for next season?
