Can’t Paul Reiser Save THE PAUL REISER SHOW?

The Paul Reiser Show (NBC)

After just two episodes, NBC has cancelled THE PAUL REISER SHOW, reports TheFutonCritic.com.

The sitcom drew only 3.372 million viewers on its premiere on April 14. And the rating for the second episode on April 21 was even lower, drawing only 2.377 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49.

The Paul Reiser Show follows former Mad About You star Paul Reiser, who plays a fictional version of himself. After years spent at home with his wife Claire (Amy Landecker) and his kids, the character Paul now decides that he needs to find a new and meaningful project to undertake. So he and his group of guy friends bond and attempt to discover what Paul’s next move should be. The comedy also stars Ben Shenkman, Omid Djalili, Duane Martin and Andrew Daly.

The Thursday, 8:30/7:30c time slot apparently has bad karma, because just a month ago NBC announced that The Paul Reiser Show would be replacing Perfect Couples. Now the show will be replaced with repeat episodes of The Office for the remaining four weeks of the season.

Are you surprised by the swiftness of the ax? This makes me wonder what will befall Tim Allen’s return to TV in his as yet untitled ABC comedy pilot.
