Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Mary Steenburgen Goes to the Dogs in WILFRED

Mary Steenburgen

I’ve long thought that FX’s upcoming WILFRED would either be terrific or awful–I don’t see much middle ground with an American remake of an Australian show about Ryan (Elijah Wood), a struggling introvert who sees his neighbor’s dog as a guy in a dog suit. The more I hear about it, though, the more I think it will end up on the terrific side.

According to EW, Mary Steenburgen (The Proposal, Curb Your Enthusiasm) is going to appear in an episode of the FX comedy as Catherine, Ryan’s mother. She joins quite the list of guest stars: Chris Klein, Ed Helms, Rashida Jones, and Jane Kaczmarek will all also be appearing on the show.

I’ve been a fan of Steenburgen since she was Joan’s mom on Joan of Arcadia and I’ll bet she’ll be fun on Wilfred. What do you think? Are you going to give this quirky comedy a shot?

Wilfred begins its thirteen-episode season on FX Thursday, June 23 at 10pm eastern/9 central.
