Hiring from within, HBO has cast James Ransone and Mike Zegen to play recurring roles in the second season of HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA. Both currently have roles on the HBO series Treme and Boardwalk Empire, respectively.

How to Make It in America is a comedy/drama series that follows Ben Epstein (Bryan Greenberg) and his friend Cam Calderon (Victor Rasuk). They are trying to achieve their dream of making a name for themselves in New York City’s fashion scene.

Deadline.com reports that Ransone will be involved in a major story line, playing a Neanderthal named Tim, who is a Brooklyn artist and clothing company owner. He will be a rival to Ben and Cam. Details about Zegen’s character are not yet known.

Later in the year, Ransone will make a return appearance on Treme as a New York City restaurant worker, who will be roommates with Chef Desautel (Kim Dickens). Previously Ransone played Ziggy Sobotka in The Wire, as well as Marine Corporal Josh Ray Person in Generation Kill, both for HBO. He most recently appeared in Hawaii Five-0 and co-starred in the movie The Son of No One.

Zegen has a recurring role on Boardwalk Empire as Benny Siegel, the teenager with aspirations of being a Jewish gangster, who eventually transforms into the notorious gangster “Bugsy.” Zegen is probably best known as Tommy’s godson on Rescue Me.
