HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER “The Exploding Meatball Sub” Review

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER “The Exploding Meatball Sub” Season 6 Episode 20 -What did you think of tonight’s episode? For a comedy, this show can bring on some serious self reflection. For example, am I someone that holds my feelings inside like Lily and Barney, or do I let the world know like Ted and Zooey? Do I stop myself from making the right decision because of graduation goggles like Robin and Ted, or do I follow my dreams like Marshall? These are deep thoughts for 8 pm on a Monday night. So first, let’s talk a little bit about the characters:

Marshall: Marshall was totally irresponsible tonight. Even though it’s been his dream for years to work as a environmental lawyer he should not have taken something that was unpaid. Even though he came to his senses in the end, he was being selfish and taking Lily a little for granted. I’m glad he’s going to look for something better, and I hope his new job is what he wants. What did you think? Was he doing the right thing, or being selfish?

Lily: Best quote of the night, “Marshall and I have been together 15 years and the only debate we have about “Tommy Boy” is if its awesome or super awesome, that’s love bitch!”. What’s with Lily and Marshall being crazy tonight? Lily is normally the voice of reason but I guess she finally cracked. She should have told Marshall how she was feeling from the start, but I understand given what happened to his dad that she was trying to be supportive. However, hopping on the next flight to Spain is hardly being supportive. Like Marshall, I’m happy she came to her senses in the end.

Barney: Barney got that upset because Marshall told him he had a stain on his tie? That is hilarious. Almost every time I think there is more to Barney than meets the eye, I am proven wrong. What you see is what you get. To me, Barney is a mix of Ted and Lily. He holds his emotions in sometimes like Lily and he also will tell people straight sometimes like Ted.

Robin: I couldn’t stop laughing every time that Sarah McLachlan song came on (side note: this alone was huge because lately I have been associating Sarah McLachlan to that abused pet video which depresses me). So, do you believe in Graduation Goggles? I see where Robin is coming from. Sometimes making the right decision is hard to do.

Ted: I guess the honeymoon is over for Ted and Zooey. It’s a bummer because I really liked Zooey but given how much they fight I think it’s time for them to end it. What do you think? Do you think how they constantly challenge each other is a good thing, or is it toxic?

Personally, I enjoyed tonight’s episode. This whole season in fact has been really good in my opinion. I feel like they have been mixing drama with comedy really well and its been keeping the show interesting. What about you?
