THE MENTALIST “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” Review

The Mentalist (CBS) Every Rose Has Its Thorn

THE MENTALIST “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” Season 3 Episode 19 – The owner of a top-notch dating agency is found shot to death and Jane finds himself immediately enthralled by the man’s widow (played to perfection by guest star Morena Baccarin).

The whole time I watching this episode, I couldn’t figure out if Erica was playing Jane because she wanted to keep him shaken up and unable to pin her for her husband’s murder, or if she really had feelings for him, too. She really had me going the whole time. Every facial expression could be read either way and this was one of the few times where I was truly clueless who the killer might actually be until the very end, thanks to the wonderful job done by both Baker and Baccarin in their roles.

Meanwhile, Rigsby ends up meeting someone new thanks to the case taking place in and around a dating agency. This nicely takes his attention off of Van Pelt but the only trouble is, it looks like Van Pelt isn’t quite as pleased as a woman who is engaged to someone else should be. Do I detect some feelings still lingering there?

My favorite bits……

Lisbon turning around to find Jane standing behind her worshipping the sun.

Jane getting a taste of his own medicine when Erica pointed out that she saw a lot of sadness in him, after he admitted that he did believe in true love.

Sarah stumbling all over herself while talking to Rigsby and then asking him if he was in a relationship. Aw. Too cute.

Van Pelt finally shushing that annoying little dog. I love that he shut right up.

Cho telling Rigsby that he should definitely use a dating service, as long as it would stop him from dating his co-workers. Oh, ouch.

Whoa. Erica totally nailing Jane’s story. Sure the details weren’t there but overall, she got it.

Jane telling the camera that snoring was a deal breaker. LOL.

The look shared between Cho and Rigsby when Cliff said he thought the girl had called him looking for “another bite off the old Cliff bar.”

Jane saying that he would want a pet dragon.

Jane getting serious and admitting that he wants to be free of his past.

Trying to figure out who to believe when Jane and Erica were talking. I’ve never seen him wrong but she sure did seem to have him pegged as well. Hmmm…

Cho mumbling that it was a terrible idea for Rigsby to be himself. LOL.

Rigsby trying a British accent. Yikes.

Lisbon having to change the term “lavender sheath” to “purple dress” for Rigsby.

Okay for a guy who was acting all nervous in the squad room, he sure got smooth when he was in the bar……and in the chick’s bed. Whoa.

Rigsby momentarily forgetting what “collar” meant. Not that I blame him.

Lisbon asking Jane why he was so obsessed with Erica. Yep, that’s a good way to describe it.

Rigsby going out on his date with Sarah. OMG those two were so cute.

Erica figuring out that her assistant’s “suicide note” was a fake. Whoa, she’s good……well, she was until she fell for the fact that he wasn’t dead in the first place.

Erica still not backing down, even after Jane caught her. You know, I hate to say it, but she’s kinda got a point about juries.

Lisbon watching Jane describe the kind of woman he was looking for and Jane’s voice cracking when we found out he was talking about his wife when he said “she was.”
