Starz Developing Supernatural Thriller THE BRINK

Starz-Logo 2011 reports that Starz is developing a supernatural crime drama, titled THE BRINK. The project is based on J.C. Hutchins’ book Personal Effects: Dark Art, which is a thriller novel that incorporates interactive elements with the purpose of pulling readers into an alternative reality through a transmedia experience. There are phone numbers to call, websites to visit, and “personal effects” to ponder over. The story is structured around art therapist Zach Taylor whose life starts to unravel when patient Martin Grace is admitted into Brinkvale Psychiatric Hospital (“The Brink”). After a shifty guy informs Zach that his mother’s death many years ago was not an accident, Zach begins investigating Martin’s life for answers. Besides being deranged, Martin is accused of committing multiple murders, which he insists to be the work of the “Dark Man.” It doesn’t help that he goes around making predictions of people’s imminent deaths.

The Brink is written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge) and executive produced by Gore Verbinski (Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean), through Verbinski’s company Blind Wink Productions. Blind Wink Production’s Jonathan Krauss will also executive produce on the project.
