Kristin Chenoweth Cast in GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES

Kristin Chenoweth

I gotta say, the more I hear about this new series from ABC, the better it sounds.

Deadline.com reports that Oklahoma-born Kristin Chenoweth has now joined the cast.

The Broadway star will be able to show off those southern roots of hers with a co-starring role in the dramedy pilot (temporarily titled GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES). The deal for Chenoweth to join the project apparently took some lengthy on-again, off-again negotiations.

Written by Robert Harling and produced by Darren Star, the series stars Leslie Bibb as Amanda, a mother of two and onetime “mean girl” in high school. She returns to her hometown of Dallas humbled by a scandalous divorce, and hopes to get a second chance at winning over her old classmates. Chenoweth is set to play the role of Darlene, the beautiful and manipulative head of this group of women, the G.C.B.’s.

Darlene is described as a classic Dallas housewife and villain motivated by her skewed sense of goodness. She goes to church regularly, knows her Scripture, but yet has no compunctions about breaking a few Commandments here and there. Back in high school, Darlene was one of the girls that Amanda was mean to, but she’s now too much of a good Christian to do anything more than forgive and welcome her back.

The new series marks Chenoweth’s return to ABC, where she co-starred in the charming dramedy, Pushing Daisies, which earned her an Emmy. Next up, Chenoweth will next reprise her character April on Fox’s Glee.
