THE OFFICE Schedules Steve Carell’s Last Airdate

Steve Carell

NBC has announced that Steve Carell’s final appearance on THE OFFICE is expected to air on Thursday, April 28. The episode wrapped production last week. While we don’t know yet how Michael departs the Scranton office of Dunder Mifflin, TVGuide.com reports that Will Ferrell will guest star on the April 14 episode of The Office. Then he will appear in another episode on April 21, and again on April 28 (the farewell episode).

After Carell’s exit from the show, Ferrell will remain for one additional episode on May 5. The question of who will be the next Dunder Mifflin regional manager will be determined on the show’s season finale. (And no, Ferrell will not be the permanent replacement for Michael.) The finale is scheduled to be an hour-long episode, airing on May 19.

Greg Daniels (The Simpsons, King of the Hill), who wrote the pilot of The Office and created the character Michael Scott (Carell), wrote Carell’s final episode as well. Daniels will continue to serve as executive producer on The Office and NBC’s Parks and Recreation.

NBC’s The Office airs on Thursdays at 9pm.
