Eddie Cibrian Cast as Lead in PLAYBOY

Eddie Cibrian

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – things move fast here in Tinsel Town.

TVLine.com reports that the lead in the NBC drama pilot PLAYBOY has already been recast and CSI: Miami alum Eddie Cibrian is in and Jeff Hephner is out.

Hephner had just landed the part last week after a marathon of auditions, so why the change? Apparently the decision was made after the pilot’s table read. Sources report that Hephner, who had never played a lead on a series before, was great in the tests but ultimately the part just wasn’t a good fit.

Playboy is slated to begin filming in Chicago on Tuesday and Cibrian is expected start immediately.

The new series is at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963 and tells the story of Nick Dalton (Cibrian), described as “the ultimate playboy.” An attorney in Chicago and a Keyholder at the glamorous, exclusive Playboy Club, he is also a fixer who knows how to make problems disappear. He even has mysterious ties to the mob.

The pilot co-stars Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Naturi Naughton, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Leah Renee, David Krumholtz and Wes Ramsey, and is directed by Alan Taylor
