Great news, HIMYM fans! HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER has been renewed through the 2012-2013 season as part of a multi-year broadcast agreement between CBS Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment had this to say about the announcement:

“We are so proud of this show and all of its creative and ratings achievements. HIMYM’s brilliant producing team continues to find inventive ways to tell funny stories that stir pop culture conversation; it has become a go-to destination for top guest stars and its amazing ensemble cast brings to life characters that audiences want to hang out with every Monday night.”

How I Met Your Mother has been an integral part of CBS’s top-rated Monday comedy block since its premiere in September 2005. Currently in its sixth season, the series is posting year-to-year increases in viewers and key demographics. It is averaging 9.48 million viewers and is also CBS’s highest-rated series among adults 18-34 (3.3/10).

In addition to being a ratings success, How I Met Your Mother has also earned critical acclaim and award recognition. Neil Patrick Harris has earned four consecutive Emmy Award nominations for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series,” while the series was nominated for “Outstanding Comedy Series” in 2009. Harris was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 2009 and 2010 in the category of “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.”
