Comcast Releases Xfinity App for Android

Xfinity App Android

Comcast customers with Android phones are no longer out in the cold. Engadget reports that the company has released its Xfinity TV App for Android. The App debuted on the iPad and iPhone last November and now customers with Android-powered devices can enjoy at least some of the same benefits.

Currently the free app only supports basic features. Users can program their DVRs, search the On Demand library or TV listings, and remotely control the cable box. Other features, including the ability to create and manage a program watchlist and receive program recommendations will become available soon through a series of development updates. Video streaming to the app is expected later this year.

The app is currently optimized for Android phones, so while it should work on tablets, there is no official support yet.
