James Van Der Beek Joins DON’T TRUST THAT BITCH IN APT. 23

James Van Der Beek

James Van Der Beek has signed on to play himself in the ABC pilot DON’T TRUST THAT BITCH IN APT. 23. The project was originally developed for Fox two years ago, but then ABC picked up the single-camera comedy pilot, which is written by David Hemingson and Nahnatchka Khan (American Dad).

According to TVLine.com, this ABC/20th Television pilot centers on good girl June (Dreama Walker), an earnest, honest, optimistic midwestern girl who is forced to move in with troublemaker Chloe (Krysten Ritter), a sexy, unstable New York City party girl. Van Der Beek will play Chloe’s best friend James Van Der Beek in a heightened version of himself. Interestingly enough, the role was initially written for former ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass, though it is now being rewritten for Van Der Beek.

Jason Winer, who helmed the pilot for ABC/20th Television’s Modern Family, will direct. Modern Family‘s Jeff Morton will produce.

Van Der Beek most recently appeared in the NBC medical drama Mercy and The Hallmark Channel movie Mrs. Miracle.
