OFF THE MAP “It’s Good” Review

OFF THE MAP (ABC) It's Good

OFF THE MAP “It’s Good” Season 1 Episode 6 – When someone breaks into the clinic and steals all the meds, the docs are forced to resort to some unusual measures to treat their patients. In one case, they even resort to the use of street drugs to keep a man with a burst appendix from dying of shock on the operating table. Then they use ants to actually keep his insides where they belong. I had to admire the method, even if I actually couldn’t watch it.

We also found out what was up with Ryan last week, turns out she has a heart condition caused by bug bite when she was a kid. The tragedy is that it could have been prevented with some very simple treatments so when she sees the same bite on another young girl, she goes out of her way to make sure that happens. I find it interesting that they’ve given a main character what could potentially be a fatal illness and I’m excited to see where they go with her storyline.

And what can I say about the last thirty seconds except that it was a great way to set up what looks to be a very exciting episode next week.

My favorite bits…

Realizing how odd dating life must be over there when you’re two choices for a guy not calling you is that he’s possibly dying from his untreated gunshot wound or he’s just not that into you.

Cole admitting to Zita that he missed having her in his bed and couldn’t sleep. That was really sweet, though I doubt he was expecting “I have some roots I can give you” as a response.

Being surprised to learn that Mina was planning on leaving as soon as her rotation was over. Though I did understand a little better after she explained why to Lily, but still.

The frat brother trying to extol all his friend’s virtues but having to admit that he totally cheats on his girl. LOL.

Cole suggesting that they get some heroin to operate on the guy with the burst appendix.

Tommy asking Papa for a consult.

Charlie remembering the term “collegiate male social club.” Nice!

Mina bargaining with a bunch of drug dealers to save their OD-ing friend in exchange for heroin.

Tommy pointing out to his frat brother that the plants in the area had 5,000 years to figure out how to fight viruses. That was great.

Cole running in with the heroin just in time to save the appendix patient. I can’t say that I blame Ben for not letting him do the actual injection though.

Getting a serious case of the heebie jeebies when Ryan hit the hut’s rood with a broom and a bunch of bugs came raining down. Bwwaaaah! *shivers*

Ryan telling the story of how she lost her sister. So terrible.

Papa detailing everything about his treatment and admitting the feather had only been to screw with the kid’s head. Ha!

Finding out that Ryan’s story wasn’t about her sister, it was about her. OMG!

Being completely unable to watch when they stuck the ants on the guy’s stomach. *hits fast forward on DVR*

Tommy making the effort to talk to the girl’s dad. So cool.

Wanting to scream when I saw Cole with that little baggie. I know we didn’t see him take it but I’m still scared he might do it.

Okay I know I’m no doctor, but I thought Mateo’s incision looked pretty darn good from where I was sitting.

Three words – hot waterfall sex.

OMG I *totally* called that the helicopter was going to crash! So weird, but I had the feeling as soon as it took off. Whoa.

What did you think of this episode of Off The Map? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
