PRETTY LITTLE LIARS “The New Normal” Review

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS "The New Normal Episode"

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS “The New Normal” Episode 17 – Just as I think we are getting closer to finding out A’s identity on Pretty Little Liars, another mystery unfolds. With Spencer, and now Caleb, on our side though, perhaps we will get to the bottom of this after all.

How super sleuthy were Spencer and Caleb tonight? I am not even talking about deciphering the code that Toby gave her. Spencer immediately knew that Aria was not at home simply because they could hear the same sirens. Give that girl her P.I. license right now! Then there is Caleb. He quickly figured out that Mr. Potter’s long lost grandnephew was a fraud simply because he used a plastic pen. I tried my hardest to figure out why Caleb was staring at the man signing the papers so intently. Can you imagine if Spencer and Caleb got together? They might rule the world. I have come to believe that Caleb is going to play a huge part in getting questions answered on this show.

So the note that Toby gave Spencer wasn’t letters spelling out “BAD” but numbers, specifically “214”. Rather fitting for Valentine’s Day, no? We now know at least one 214, the number of a room in a seedy motel on the side of the road. This has me thinking that whomever Jenna was talking to about Spencer wanted to meet her at the hotel room. That leaves two suspects in my mind, Ian and Jason. If it is Ian, I am really weirded out because then I lean toward Jenna trying on lacy garments for him. How many teenage girls can one man seduce? If it is Jason, I tend to think it is more about the death of Allison. What do you think?

Meanwhile, back in the rest of the world, Emily’s mother finally stands up for her even if she doesn’t understand Emily’s sexual preference. What is there to understand? I can see not agreeing or not approving, but not understanding? As for Paige, I do not know if she is gay as well or if she is just acting out against her father. Either way, I really do not care. I cannot bring myself to even feign interest in her character. Hanna and Caleb are still buds and Hanna is still hiding him in her house. It is nice of her to help out, but I also think she feels safe with him there. How awesome was it that A sent an exterminator to Hanna’s house for the “infestation” in her basement? Whomever A is, that person sure is creative.

I am probably going to sound like a broken record here, but can we please kill the Ezra and Aria storyline? It is draining. I don’t care about them. I don’t care that Byron is jealous of Ezra because he thinks he is hitting on Ella. Do you think he would feel better if he learned it was just Aria after all?

As always, the best scenes are the last scenes. Not only did we get the motel shot, but we also saw who we can presume is A at the grave of Mrs. Potter. Did A kill Mrs. Potter or merely use that death to his or her advantage to mess with Hanna and her mother? Is the fake architect someone set up by A? I do have to wonder how many men Hanna’s mother is going to have to date to get them out of their various situations. I think they have a name for that profession.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars? What do you think is up with the 214? Is anyone else creeped out by Jenna looking at herself in mirrors? Share your thoughts, ideas and theories with us in the comment section below!
